YouTube is a video-sharing website, created by three former PayPal employees in February 2005, on which users can upload, view and share videos.[3] The company is based in San Bruno, California, and uses Adobe Flash Video and HTML5 technology to display a wide variety of user-generated video content, including movie clips, TV clips, and music videos, as well as amateur content such as video blogging and short original videos.
Most of the content on YouTube has been uploaded by individuals, although media corporations including CBS, the BBC, VEVO, Hulu, and other organizations offer some of their material via the site, as part of the YouTube partnership program.[4] Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users can upload an unlimited number of videos. Videos considered to contain potentially offensive content are available only to registered users at least 18 years old. In November 2006, YouTube, LLC was bought by Google for US$1.65 billion, and now operates as a subsidiary of Google...

Amazing..!!! Nokia X2 stops bullet, saves a life in Syria

Amazing..!!! Nokia X2 stops bullet, saves a life in Syria

There are plenty of memes going around that feature the classic Nokia 3310 feature phone, where it proved to be one tough cookie. Well, are all Nokias built tough? That remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure – earlier this morning, someone on Facebook reported about an incident that happened in war torn Syria, a country that is going through the bitter struggles of a civil war. It seems that an owner of the Nokia X2 was filming the action that is happening between the rebels and military, where bombs and bullets were let off with wanton abandon.

This did not fail to deter the Nokia X2′s owner who moved closer to the action, and when he was still shooting a video halfway with the Nokia X2 remaining nearly in front of his mouth as his right hand held it, the incident happened. A bullet struck the Nokia X2, but remained stuck in the handset, meaning it stopped the bullet altogether,

sacrificing its digital life for its human owner. The image above does seem to indicate otherwise, however. No idea on just how true this is, but it is a heart warming incident to read abo

Environmental Effects of Global Warming

Environmental Effects of Global Warming

The greenhouse effect and global warming are issues that are talked about by geologists
all the time. The greenhouse effect is a natural process that keeps the earth at temperatures that
are livable. Energy from the sun warms the earth when its heat rays are absorbed by greenhouse
gasses and become trapped in the atmosphere. Some of the most common greenhouse gasses are
water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane. If there were no greenhouse gasses, very few rays
would be absorbed and the earth would be extremely cold. When too many rays are absorbed, the
earth?s atmosphere starts to warm, which leads to global warming. Global warming can lead to
many problems that affects the environment in which we live.

In order to talk about global warming, we must first learn what causes the greenhouse
effect. A lot of the rays from the sun are absorbed by water vapor that is naturally in our
atmosphere. Water vapor accounts for ?80 percent of natural greenhouse warming. The
remaining 20 percent is due to other gasses that are present in very small amounts? (Murck,
Skinner and Porter 488). Carbon dioxide is also a big absorber of the sun?s heat rays. Humans
can cause a lot of carbon dioxide to be released. Every time we burn fossil fuels, we release more
carbon dioxide. Emissions from cars also increase the amount of carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere. If there is more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere more rays from the sun are
absorbed. This will cause the atmosphere and the earth?s temperature to warm. The warming of
the earth will cause the oceans to become warmer. When they heat up, more water is evaporated,
causing more carbon dioxide to be released into the atmosphere. Once this process starts, it is
extremely hard to control. If the temperature keeps rising, more carbon dioxide will be released.
Another greenhouse gas is methane: ?Methane absorbs infrared radiation 25 times more
effectively than carbon dioxide, making it an important greenhouse gas despite its relatively low
concentration? (490). There have been many studies on how methane is released into the
atmosphere. Methane in the atmosphere is ?generated by biological activity related to rice
cultivation, leaks in domestic and industrial gaslines, and the digestive process of domestic
livestock, especially cattle? (490).

An environmental effect of global warming is the fact that higher temperatures will lead to
a change in the water cycle. Some places may experience more rain. Warmer temperatures will
cause a greater amount of evaporation from lakes, rivers, and oceans. In some areas this could be
good, and in others it could be considered bad. In northern regions of the United States, an
increase in the temperature and amount of rain could actually extend the growing season of crops.
This would in turn mean more money for farmers in the northern region. It could also hurt some
farmers. Too much rain is bad for some crops. Certain areas will actually get less rain, which
would lead to more droughts and have a negative impact on crops. Warm and wet weather is
usually a factor that promotes tropical storms. Global warming would lead to tropical storms?
appearing with greater frequency. More rain will also force plant life to adjust. Forests and plant
life migrate naturally, but scientists say that global warming would cause them to migrate at a
much faster rate. If the climate changes the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says,
?some forest species in North America will shift by as much as 300 miles to the north?
(www.pirg.org/enviro/global_w/fact.htm). If a region is getting more rain and plants on the
border of that region need rain to survive, they will naturally begin growing in the new region.

The Environmental Media Services Organization has found that the greenhouse effect
?could drive global temperatures up as much as 6 degrees by the year 2100 - an increase in heat
comparable to the 10 degree warming that ended the last ice age?
(www.ems.org/climate/sub2_html). If a ten degree warming was the factor that ended the ice
age, imagine what another warming by about that same amount could do. Scientists believe that a
warming of only 6 degrees would cause glaciers to melt at a high rate. This would cause an
increase in the level of the oceans. According to the article ?Turning up the Heat: How Global
Warming Threatens Life in the Sea,? coastal cities and islands would be in danger of flooding if
the ocean levels rose: ?Only a 1-cm rise in sea level can erode a full 1 meter of beach? (Berntson
and Mathews-Amos www.worldwildelife.org/news/pups/wwf_ocean.htm). Sea ice would also be
susceptible to melting, which would raise the water level even more.

Global warming will not just make sea levels rise, it will also affect sea life. Corals ?are
intolerant of temperatures just a few degrees warmer than usual? (ibid.). Small increases in the
temperature can kill corals. There have been problems with corals dying in the past few years
because of increased water temperatures. Other marine life may migrate northward or southward
because the waters are warmer. The warm water would make them think that they were in their
natural habitat, when they were actually migrating toward the poles. Food would be scarce in
their new habitat.

Patterns of the circulation of sea water are disturbed by global warming. Cold water
moves along the sea floor towards the equator and warm water around the equator moves toward
the poles across the surface of the ocean. It is known as thermohaline circulation. It is a very
important process concerning ocean life. This circulation process brings oxygenated water to the
sea floor. If this did not happen, ?water along the sea floor would become depleted of the oxygen
organisms need to survive? (ibid.).

Fish, such as salmon, are also sensitive to the temperature of the water. During the
summer when the water is warm, salmon have a higher metabolic rate. During the winter months,
their metabolism slows down, which is good because less food is available. With global warming
and increased water temperatures, salmon would have a higher metabolic rate, even if it were
during the winter. Less food would be available for them and many salmon would die.

Another impact of global warming will be that some diseases are likely to be spread more
easily. Mosquitoes are a major carrier of tropical diseases. They are commonly known for
carrying malaria, cholera, and dengue fever. Malaria outbreaks are usually confined to ?where the
minimum winter temperature reaches no lower than 16 [degrees Celsius],? according to the World
Wide Fund for Nature, an independent conservation organization
(www.panda.org/climate/climate_docs/health_factsheet/malria.htm). Scientists are beginning to
notice that malaria outbreaks are occurring outside these places. They are attributing this to
increased temperatures from global warming. Places such as California, Texas, Florida, Michigan,
and New York have had more

Romeo and Juliet

The Source of Grief in Romeo and Juliet     Romeo and Juliet are young, and foolish.  Romeo rushes into things and appears to be in search of love whereas Juliet is young and naïve and easily seduced by his charm.  These two confused lovers played a major roll in the deaths of both Tybalt and Mercutio and the final grieving of the Montagues and Capulets.  Romeo and Julietcause tremendous grief by their own deaths, however there are situations beyond their control that also contribute to the suffering in the play.                Calling Romeo and Juliet foolish may even be generous.  Just consider Romeo’s behavior during our first introduction to him.  He describes his love for Rosaline in a way which suggests that he’s in love with the idea of love, rather than actually in love.  He only really can be described as a foolish, young boy.  He’s immaturity and he’s attitude to love gets the better of him, which proves to traumatize his future.  He seems to be in search of love and at such a young age it is plain stupidity!  He overacts and rushes into things hardly giving himself time to think realistically.  At first sight of Juliet Romeo pronounces, “Did my heart love till now?  Forswear it, sight!  For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night.”  He is basically telling us that he is in love, or thinks he is, with a beautiful girl that he doesn’t know.  This verifies Friar Lawrence’s statement towards Romeo “Young mens love then lies not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes.”  The Friar finds it very difficult to trust Romeo’s love, or as he calls doting and we could call it lust, considering he had so quickly moved on from Rosaline who he claimed to be in love with a short while ago. And of course the other obvious doubting question, can someone love someone from sight that they don’t even know?  Romeo’s tendency to rush things is shown to us when he proposes to Juliet four hours after he first saw her. The two young lovers are aware of the consequences and the harmful dishonesty their marriage will bring about, but the two foolishly ignore.  They decide to do something, which will not only traumatize their own futures, but also others. Romeo’s ignorance is displayed to us a second time when his impulsive actions result in the murder of Tybalt.  Romeo kills him in an act of a raving revenge.  Although he is aware of the consequences to his sudden outrage they are ignored, as he follows a path which can only be described as foolish given the fateful ending.  This secures the point that Romeo is senseless considering he would do something so foolish that he was sure would endanger his life and dishearten Juliet so much.  All of his thoughtless actions have tragic outcomes.  Despite the fact that it was the Friar who’s plans went awry and that we could argue that it is his fault Romeo didn’t receive the urgent message to Juliet’s appearance of death, Romeo took that matter into his hands and again overplayed the situation.  His impulsive behavior is bared to us once more when he resolves the situation with the taking of his own life.  He is killing himself over a 13 year-old girl, he’s wife that he barely knows.  If Romeo had thought a lot more and wasn’t the unreasoning juvenile that he was, the tragedy would not of taken place.               Juliet, although much the same as Romeo, appeared to be a lot more mature especially considering she was younger.  She is young and naïve and has never been in love.  It seems that she must enjoy feeling desired by a handsome, charming young man that is Romeo. She thought things through and didn’t appear to be in search of love like Romeo was.  She was swept of her feet by a charming good looking and sweet gentleman who almost appeared as a gateway to a happier life, and escape from the arranged marriage and a way to disobey her father.  She too couldn’t really love Romeo after meeting him only four hours before they decided to marry.  But unlike Romeo, she didn’t encourage the love in the beginning.  O f course she liked being kissed and complimented, but she didn’t go out of her way as he did later in that night.  Just consider the grounds in which they agree to marry.  “O, wilt thou leave me so unsatisfied?”  Romeo is pushing things to happen again and being spontaneous and impatient, where as Juliet appears shocked by his impulsive proposal since she is not fully mindful of what he is suggesting.  “What satisfaction canst thou have tonight?”  And it was from there that they agreed to marry.  Juliet was at least a little wary as she informed Romeo that it was forbidden then later questioned his proposal to whether his love was honorable.  They both don’t seem to realise how much their decision will impact the lives of others, as well as themselves, at this time.  When together they both, although almost as foolish as each other, are a mindless, crazy couple who make numerous, insane decisions and caused a lot of suffering.    But is it fair to blame Romeo and Juliet for the suffering that takes part in the play?  It is true that they played a major roll in the deaths of both Tybalt and Mercutio, but we have to take into consideration that these men both got what they were asking for.  After all it is Tybalt who comes looking for his loathed enemy, Romeo, angrily declaring “Thou art a villain”, when Romeo doesn’t have any intentions of fighting defending himself by saying “I do protest, I never injured thee.”  And it is Mercutio who insisted on picking a fight with Tybalt, referring to him as “Tybby” and “rat-catcher” to test his patience.  Romeo suffers from the death of his best friend Mercutio and displays his feelings in a raging act of revenge against Tybalt, blocking all consequences from his mind.  The Capulets grieve over the death of Tybalt and Romeo appears to them as more even loathsome as they want him ‘Banished’ from Verona.  Lady Capulet announces that  “Romeo shall soon keep Tybalt company”.  Whilst Juliet suffers from the loss of her dearly loved kinsman, she weeps more over the fact that her love, her husband, murdered him.  It is true that both the Montagues and Capulets suffer from the death of their young children, but consider their behavior throughout the play and tell me they suffered.  Both sides were as foolish as each other and should of known better to put an end to the feuding which began with Verona’s ancient citizens.  Capulet is the one who arranges the marriage for Paris and his daughter regardless of her feelings and this is a big contributing factor to Juliet and Romeo’s death considering Juliet is so wild to escape the marriage and will do anything.  Lady Capulet also persuades Juliet that the marriage is Juliet’s responsibility despite the fact that she is thirteen years old.  Juliet doesn’t feel as though she can talk to her mother to help her through this situation because she knows she feels the same way as her father.  So instead, she has to end her life with an extreme action. It is not fair to blame Romeo and Juliet for the pain and suffering which goes on in the play because there are so many other contributing factors.   Although the fateful death of these two star cross’d lovers is described as tragic, it proves to be more a positive and necessary thing given the logical ending.  The lovers are forced into engaging in desperate actions that doom them to death, but their family hatred is finally resolved.  Despite the fact that their death brings about suffering and pain in the short term it concludes the constant feuding which has gone on through generations of both houses.    It is too easy to dismiss Romeo and Juliet as young and foolish.  They are indeed foolish and do cause a lot of suffering, but it isn’t entirely their fault.  They should receive less criticism than the heads of the two warring houses that should of known better.  These two star cross’d lovers cause a lot of trauma and suffering.  However in the end their tragic fate brings about the final reconciliation of both houses.

Google

Google Inc. (NASDAQGOOG), or simply Google (stylised as Google), is an American multinational corporation which provides Internet-related products and services, including Internet searchcloud computing, software and advertising technologies.[5] Advertising revenues from AdWordsgenerate almost all of the company's profits.[6][7]
The company was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while both attended Stanford University. Together, Brin and Page own about 16 percent of the company's stake. Google was first incorporated as a privately held company on September 4, 1998, and its initial public offering followed on August 19, 2004. The company's mission statement from the outset was "to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful",[8] and the company's unofficial slogan is "Don't be evil".[9][10] In 2006, the company moved to its current headquarters in Mountain View, California.
Rapid growth since incorporation has triggered a chain of products, acquisitions, and partnerships beyond the company's core web search engine. The company offers online productivity software including email, an office suite, and social networking. Google's products extend to the desktop as well, with applications for web browsing, organizing & editing photos, and instant messaging. Google leads the development of the Android mobileoperating system, as well as the Google Chrome OS browser-only operating system,[11] found on specialized netbooks called Chromebooks.
Google has been estimated to run over one million servers in data centers around the world,[12] and process over one billion search requests[13] and about twenty-four petabytes of user-generated data every day.[14][15][16][17]
As of September 2009 Alexa listed the main U.S.-focused google.com site as the Internet's most visited website, and numerous international Google sites as being in the top hundred, as well as several other Google-owned sites such as YouTube, Blogger and Orkut.[18] Google also ranks number two in the BrandZ brand equity database.[19] The dominant market position of Google's services has led to criticism of the company over issues including privacy, copyright, and censorship

Facebook

Facebook
Facebook is a  social networking service  and website launched in February 2004, owned and operated by Facebook, Inc.[3] As of May 2012, Facebook has over 900 million active users, more than half of them using Facebook on a mobile device.[4] Users must register before using the site, after which they may create a personal profile, add other users as friends, and exchange messages, including automatic notifications when they update their profile. Additionally, users may join common-interest user groups, organized by workplace, school or college, or other characteristics, and categorize their friends into lists such as "People From Work" or "Close Friends". The name of the service stems from the colloquial name for the book given to students at the start of the academic year by some university administrations in the United States to help students get to know each other. Facebook allows any users who declare themselves to be at least 13 years old to become registered users of the site.[5]
Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roommates and fellow students Eduardo SaverinAndrew McCollumDustin Moskovitzand Chris Hughes.[6] The website's membership was initially limited by the founders to Harvard students, but was expanded to other colleges in the Boston area, the Ivy League, and Stanford University. It gradually added support for students at various other universities before opening to high school students, and eventually to anyone aged 13 and over. However, according to a May 2011 Consumer Reports survey, there are 7.5 million children under 13 with accounts and 5 million under 10, violating the site's terms of service.[7]
A January 2009 Compete.com study ranked Facebook as the most used social networking service by worldwide monthly active users.[8]Entertainment Weekly included the site on its end-of-the-decade "best-of" list, saying, "How on earth did we stalk our exes, remember our co-workers' birthdays, bug our friends, and play a rousing game of Scrabulous before Facebook?"[9] Critics, such as Facebook Detox,[10] state that Facebook has turned into a national obsession that results in vast amounts of time lost and innately encourages narcissism. Quantcast estimates Facebook has 138.9 million monthly unique U.S. visitors in May 2011.[11] According to Social Media Today, in April 2010 an estimated 41.6% of the U.S. population had a Facebook account.[12] Nevertheless, Facebook's market growth started to stall in some regions, with the site losing 7 million active users in the United States and Canada in May 2011
